The crash was reported just after 3:15 pm near the airport.

Private Michael Tatum of the DPS said 24 children aged 10 and 11 were on the bus at the time, along with two teachers, a manager and the driver.

The bus was carrying all the girls.

Tatum said the bus was traveling south on Highway 281 en route to Sea World in San Antonio.

The player lost control of the bus and the bus switched over.

According to Tatum, several students were injured in the head.

All children were taken to local hospitals, including the Metroplex Hospital, Rollins Brook Community Hospital, Baylor Scott and White Hospital, Darnall Military Hospital and the ### McLane Childrens Hospital.

Erin Riley, spokesperson for Metroplex Hospital in Killeen, confirmed that six victims were taken to the emergency room for treatment, but none of the injuries were critical.

She also said that the hospital was ready to receive up to four other patients.

A second bus traveling with the group and carrying the boys was taken to Lampasas College.

No one was injured in this bus.

Highway 281 remained closed for several hours while DPS continued to conduct its investigation.

The Lampasas fire, the police and the sheriff's office all responded.
