Well, it's a way to suffer an injury as a coach. Georgia State Chief Trainer Shawn Elliott told reporters that he suffered a torn bicep during the Panthers match against NC State last weekend. The cause? Why, by celebrating a GSU boarding with a hand pump on the sideline, of course:
In addition, Georgia State HC Shawn Elliott told us that he tore his right biceps into an aggressive fist bump after their TD at NC State last week. will need a surgery next week. He laughed telling us that he was not stoic on the sidelines. I can not wait to see his passion on Friday night @espn vs Memphis

Of course, I decided to try to find out when this happened, and thanks to the intelligent work of my colleague, Richard Johnson, I think we found it. The only touchdown of the state of Georgia in the 41-7 NC victory last Saturday was at the start of the first quarter. After the score, Elliott could be viciously fisted in the celebration:
Coaches injured outside are not so rare. Former Jacksonville head coach Jack Del Rio injured his leg after a player collision, and New Orleans head coach Sean Payton Saints did the same in 2011. Charlie Weis made his legs taken under him and suffered a torn ACL and MCL. But a coach suffering from an injury the first time? This must be a first.
We've seen a festive injury happen to a player before – in 2001, infamous Arizona kicker Cardinals Bill Gramatica tore up his ACL after celebrating that goal in the field:
If all goes well, Shawn Elliott takes things in hand by celebrating the TDs on the sidelines. The Panthers will face Memphis on the road Friday at 19h ET.
