Shayna Baszler defeated Kairi Sane in a two-for-three match at Falls to retain the NXT Women's NXT TakeOver: WarGames championship in Los Angeles on Saturday.

With the match tied at one drop each, Baszler turned Sane's Insane Elbow Drop into a crucifix cross to clinch victory.

The first fall fell on Baszler when Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir intervened on his behalf:

Sane tied him shortly thereafter, and then got help from Dakota Kai and second from Mae Young Classic 2018, Io Shirai, who led Duke and Shafir with a lunar attack:

In the midst of chaos, Baszler managed to retain his title.

Takeover's Battle with Baszler and Sane: WarGames was a resumption of the fight that saw Baszler beat Sane to become a two-time NXT champion on pay-per-view exclusively female Evolution TV.

Baszler became the first double female champion in NXT history with this win, but she did not do it without help.

Duke and Shafir, close friends of the Queen of Spades and the four riders, sat at the front for the match and got involved, which allowed Baszler to take back the title she had lost to Sane. at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 in August.

In order to make sure that there was a clear winner at TakeOver: WarGames Given the Evolution of Things at Evolution, NXT General Manager, William Regal, had reserved them in a match against two falls.

Baszler and Sane have disagreed for more than a year. They competed in the finals of Mae Young's first classic and played a fantastic match before Sane won and won an immediate victory at the NXT Women's Championship.

Shortly after, Baszler made his NXT debut and targeted Sane before beating Ember Moon for the NXT Women's NXT TakeOver Championship: New Orleans the night before WrestleMania 34.

Baszler enjoyed a dominant four-month reign that lasted until Sane shocked her at TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 and continued her surprising series of success against the former UFC star.

After this defeat, Baszler insisted that it was a stroke of luck and promised to beat Sane once and for all if she had another opportunity.

She kept her promise to Evolution, but left a doubt as to her ability to beat the pirate princess alone.

The two falls in three made it less likely that there was a stroke of luck or a misstep on Saturday, and it also ensured that Baszler and Sane would have all the necessary tools to organize another classic match.

Baszler and Sane have often shown over the past year that they have a remarkable chemistry, and this has again been featured at TakeOver: WarGames.

Thanks to her victory, Baszler proved that she was still the dominant woman in NXT, while rumors could now begin to swirl about a possible call to Sane's main training.
