If you're looking for a hype man, you could do a lot worse than Shea Whigham. The actor, who seems to have been ubiquitous lately, in everything from Kong: the island of the skull at Fargo at Waco at First man-Was filming a unique film by Todd Phillips Joker film, and let him assure you, he's really excited.
"For me it's as good as that," said Whigham collider in a new interview in the middle of the press campaign for the next Amazon series Back home, when asked about the time he is currently spending in Gotham City. "I go back and forth between television and film and I do not waste my time working with Joaquin. [Phoenix] and see what he does. And Todd Phillips put this incredible scenario in place. This is the original story. People did not see how the Joker became the Joker, and oh, my God, man, that's amazing. It is true. No one tells Whigham that Tim Burton has Batmanbecause he looks pretty pumped about the thing "no one has seen the Joker become the Joker".
To be fair, this is a new version of the original story, at least as far as big screen performances are concerned. Whigham gives some additional details (and extra enthusiasm) when asked what his role is in the article about the time of the wicked:
Bill Camp, from The night of, is one of our big players. He finally has his due. He and I play with two policemen from Gotham P.D., in 1981, when the city was tough. We are investigating something that just happened at the beginning of the play. We try to get to the bottom of things and that leads to where they lead. You know, it is rare that I am on a plateau where one has the impression of cracking. It's pretty amazing. . .I want to have an experience. I do not call it a job. I'm not saying that I have a job. I have a concert, a piece, a movie or a show, but it's never a job. . . We have experience on Joker.
It's nice to have an experience! The idea of a pair of cops playing a counterpoint to the evolution of Phoenix's transformation from Arthur Fleck to Joker makes sense, if only because somebody has to come up with Joker's crime scene "Call for help" because there will probably be no Batman to do anything about it.
