Beaufort County

On Monday evening, no shelter was announced. Information and updates are available on the Beaufort County Emergency Services Facebook page.

Bertie County

Shelters will open at the Bertie Middle School, West Bertie Elementary School and Colerain Elementary School. They will open Wednesday afternoon. A curfew at the county level will be released Wednesday from 8 pm.

Carteret County

Evacuees can take refuge at Knightdale High School, 100 Bryan Chalk Lane, Knightdale. The shelter accepts pets. There are no shelters open in the county due to mandatory evacuation.

Craven County

Four schools will have emergency shelters available: Havelock High School, Brinson Elementary School, Ben Quinn Elementary School (pets, dogs and cats only) and l 39; Farm Life Elementary School.

Craven County Emergency Management will open four emergency shelters on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 2 pm. in the following places for citizens living in low-lying areas exposed to floods and who have nowhere to go for:

1. Havelock High School (101 Webb Blvd, Havelock)

2. Brinson Elementary School (319 Neuse Forest Avenue, New Bern)

3. Benn Quinn Elementary (4275 Martin Luther King Blvd, New Bern) * Pet Friendly *

4. Farm Life Elementary School (2000 Farm Life Avenue, Vanceboro)

Citizens should bring their own pillows, blankets, medications, hygiene items, special foods, formula (if needed) and any other item with special needs. Shelters may not be able to support medical devices and equipment.

Pets will only be accepted at the Ben Quinn Elementary Emergency Shelter. No other emergency shelter will allow pets. This shelter only accepts cats and dogs, not exotic pets. All animals must be crated. Pet owners must bring bowls for food and water, food and medicine for their pets, as well as anti-rabies certificates (not labels). Pet owners will have to stay in the shelter with their pet and will be responsible for the care and cleaning of their pet.

It is forbidden for citizens to bring weapons, alcohol, illegal drugs, perishable goods, radios or televisions into an emergency shelter. Small portable devices can be used with headphones.
