Sheriff resigns after racist remarks leaked
The sheriff of the most populous county of New Jersey resigned on Friday following calls for his resignation after the publication of an audio recording in which he made racist remarks about Blacks and the Sikh Attorney General of New Jersey. 'State.
After the governor and others asked for his resignation, Michael Saudino and four sheriffs submitted their resignation, the Bergen County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook.
NPR affiliate WNYC on Thursday released comments from a secret tap record that he was nominated for Saudino, who is white, after the inauguration of Phil Murphy, a democrat who succeeded Chris Christie in January. .
A man whom the station identified as Saudino is heard talking to his colleagues about Murphy's speech.

Saudino changed party to become a Democrat in 2016 after being a Republican before.
