UPDATE: 7:37 pm EDT-Authorities said they thought a shootout near Canyon Springs High School on Tuesday was a targeted, non-random incident, KTNV reported.

One person, an 18-year-old student, was killed in the shooting, KTNV reported. The identity of the student was not immediately released.

The police had no one in custody.

The North Las Vegas Police Department confirmed that it was investigating a shootout near Canyon Springs High School in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

There was at least one death in the shoot, reported Las Vegas Now. The identity of the victim has not yet been released. According to KSNV-TV, the shots were fired outside the school near the baseball field.

It was not immediately clear if the police had a suspect in custody. Police asked the public to stay away from the area while the investigation was ongoing.

Canyon Springs High School remained stuck while the situation remained active, said the Clark County School District.
