CHICAGO – Police responded to reports of several casualties during a shootout near a Chicago hospital on Monday afternoon, according to Chicago police. At least one possible offender is shot dead, police said.
Anthony Guglielmi, Chicago Police spokesman tweeted On Monday afternoon, shots were fired around 26 and Michigan, near the Mercy Hospital & Medical Center, south of the city. Law enforcement responded.
Guglielmi said the officers were conducting a methodical search of the Mercy Hospital and had asked the public to avoid the area.
The medical staff was seen being evacuated from the area. Guglielmi urged citizens to avoid the area.
