A shootout outside a Toronto nightclub on Saturday, June 30, killed rapper Smoke Dawg, 21, according to Drake and others.

CP24 reports that three people, two men and one woman, were shot dead in broad daylight in the incident which quickly turned into chaos outside the Cube nightclub, in Toronto's entertainment district. All three were transported to the hospital, but one of the victims died later

In the hours following the shooting, several friends of Smoke Dawg – including Drake, Mustafa the poet and Nathan Miller, the director of NORTHSIDE a documentary focusing on Toronto's burgeoning rap scene featuring the rapper – all seemed to confirm that Smoke was dead with his tributes on social media. ( Billboard reached out to representatives for confirmation.)

"All these gifts and blessed souls and inner lights being off lately are devastating", Drake wrote via Instagram the story on a photo of him and the late rapper. "I would like peace to invade our city, so many talents and stories that we will never see, stay on smoking."
