Hype and hope. Let's be honest, after the poor performance of Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods at the Ryder Cup, this duel in November looks more like a pillow fight, but maybe there is something to be excited.
Looking at Wednesday's pre-match press conference on UFC 229's fight between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, it was impossible not to be entertained.
"There will never be peace here. I always say you should aim for peace, but if you can not aim for peace, look between your eyes, "says McGregor.
There is little chance that the golf game on television between Woods and Mickelson is as entertaining, but there is the slightest prospect of a pre-match press conference with these two players throwing themselves a bit in the shade, it would be worth the price of entry.

And while we're on the subject, I'd also like to suggest renaming the Courage Award in honor of Jarrod Lyle, who passed away in August after his third fight with cancer. Lyle won the award in 2015, the last time that it was distributed, and was the bravest person I've ever met.
The task to be accomplished. As a result of another American loss to the Ryder Cup, the consensus among the millions of armchair captains was that the American team had to start from scratch, but these pressing catches ignore the simple fact that no one has ever said that it would be easy.

Reed told the Times that he was ready to "light up the room like Phil in 2014" Sunday night in Paris. Maybe, but then Furyk was not Tom Watson. and Reed's message, unlike Mickelson's in 2014, was selfish and not shared by any other Team USA member.
Greetings of the season. The echoes of Woods' latest East Lake play are still ringing in our ears and the new season has already begun at this week's Safeway Open, prompting well-known complaints that the Tour season is too long.
Although these concerns are not new, they deserve to be briefly recalled because of the new schedule of the circuit, the championship of the circuit ending the week preceding the weekend of Labor Day. In theory, this could create a kind of off-season, but do not count on it.
The post-Tour Championship schedule in 2019 remains to be seen, but all indications are that the Tour will have a new intermission (one to two weeks) before starting again.
