Pete Davidson is back at Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, he apologized for his comments to Dan Crenshaw, an elected member of Congress, during last week's segment.

"On behalf of the show, and myself, I apologize," Davidson said. "I think it from the bottom of my heart – it was a mediocre word choice – this man is a war hero and he deserves all the respect in the world."

"If something positive came out of it, it may be that for one day, the left and the right finally agreed to hear something: that I am a cock, "added Davidson.

Unexpectedly, Crenshaw himself went from the screen to the delight of the audience, where he joked, "You think?"

"Thank you so much for coming," Davidson offered.

"Thank you for making a Republican good," Crenshaw joked.

After Davidson excused himself again, Crenshaw assured them that they were all good when the phone from the politician rang and that his ringtone was "Breathin" from Ariana Grande.

After a tumultuous audience laugh, an embarrassed Davidson asked, "Are you going to answer that?"

"I think I'm going to let it ring," Crenshaw said, trying not to laugh. "Why do you know her?"

"OK, it hurts," Davidson whispered.

This was not the only reference to the Davidson and Grande split made by the comic strip during the segment. Earlier, the 24-year-old comedian had joked about the pain he felt for his mother over the past week, while everyone was talking about him for his controversial Crenshaw joke.

"Can you imagine being my mother?" It must be nil, Davidson joked. "It's not easy when everyone is angry at your son and roommate."
