Dallas Mavericks star rookie Luka Doncic gave fans plenty of highlights to see in their win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 20.
The Dallas Mavericks had a perfect night of redemption on Saturday night. They struggled in the opening game of the season and the Phoenix Suns chased them off the field en route to a stunning Suns victory. The Mavs knew that they needed to play better basketball and that's what they did.
It was a slow start for the Mavericks, who reduced them by 15 points in the first quarter, but they never stopped fighting. It took some amazing individual performances, but Dallas won the 140-136 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves during their home opener.
The Wolves were in the second of a back-to-back and decided to let Jimmy Butler, a star player. Karl-Anthony Towns lost 31 points. Derrick Rose was fantastic in producing 28 points, five rebounds, five assists, two flights and one block, but that was not enough for Minnesota.
The Mavericks used all their team's efforts to win, but were led by Luka Doncic and DeAndre Jordan. Doncic led the team with 26 points on eight of the 16 field shots. He also made four three-point points with six rebounds, three assists, two interceptions and one block in 36 minutes. Jordan scored 22 points with ten rebounds and five blocks.
