For Amazon's online sellers, a negative product evaluation can be extremely damaging for companies that sell their products on the retail giant's website.
In order to reverse the bad reactions, some vendors are offering bribes to Amazon employees to obtain bad reviews email addresses or to completely erase negative reviews of the site, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.
According to Wall Street Journal sources, this practice is particularly prevalent in China, where small business owners sometimes pay around $ 300 to Amazon employees for every bad review they pick up.
These services would be overseen by brokers who use the Chinese WeChat messaging service to connect vendors to Amazon employees.
Vendors can even contact brokers for exclusive information on sales volume and online spending patterns of buyers to drive sales, sources said.
Amazon's policies prohibit the disclosure of this information and the online retail giant reportedly launched an internal investigation to determine which employees are violating company policies.
Amazon did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
