  • Matthew Hox is believed to have killed his father Hank and shot his mother inside their Tinicum home.

  • After the shooting, Hox fled Delaware County's family home and hid in the nearby woods for hours, the police said.

  • The parents and Hox quarreled before the shooting, the investigators said.

A family dispute broke out with a man who shot his parents, leaving his dead father and wounded mother in their Delaware County home during the night.

After an hour of hunting, Tinicum Township police announced they found 31-year-old Matthew Hox in a wood about a block away from his Iroquois street at around 3am on Friday.

Around 8:45 pm Thursday, Tinicum's agents arrived home to find Henry "Hank" Hox, 77, dead and his mother wounded, said Stephen Edmiston, police chief of Tinicum Municipality. The 62-year-old mother was taken to the hospital where she was conscious and spoke to the investigators.

"The son of both parents who live there fired and walked away," Edmiston said.

For hours, several Delaware County agencies spent hours searching the area near the Philadelphia International Airport. During the search, the neighbors were asked to stay in the houses.

The shot took place during some sort of family dispute, said Edmiston. Police recovered a gun at home.

As of Friday morning, Hox still had to be charged. He was not clear when he had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.
