Spiders have invaded a seaside resort in Greece, while the video shows canvases covering nearly 1,000 feet of coastline.
Under the immensely spun canvases at Aitoliko, thousands of spiders can be seen crawling along bushes, trees, and grass in a video captured by Giannis Giannakopoulos.
The canvases can cover a huge area, but the spiders that make them are quite small, according to CNN. Called the genus Tetragnatha, spiders measure only 0.7 inches long.
The explosion of the spider population is due to the hot and humid temperatures of Aitoliko. Thanks to the weather, gnats are popping up everywhere and the Tetragnatha kind loves nibbling them.
And more food means more spiders.
"It's as if the spiders are taking advantage of these conditions and are organizing a kind of party," said Maria Chatzaki, professor of biology at the Greek Democritus University of Thrace, on the Greek Newsit website.
"They mate, they breed and provide a whole new generation."
Fortunately, creatures are not dangerous for people. And once temperatures drop, the midgut population will die, as will the spiders, leaving the inhabitants of Aitoliko to recover their beaches.
