Spotify sued for alleged sex discrimination of leaders

On top of that, Perez described a hostile global work culture, especially from the US sales manager (and his boss) Brian Berner. In 2016 and 2017, he would have chosen only men for drug-related 'boy trips', with the exception of women better qualified for work-oriented visits. He would also have taken Perez as a scapegoat after having problems with a buyer and taking free tickets from Madison Square Garden, having sent her away for driving offenses that were really hers.

Pereze added that she had raised concerns about the lack of anti-harassment action with the Spotify Human Resources team before she left.

In a statement, Spotify said it did not tolerate discrimination "at any level" but insisted that Perez's trial be "baseless". Whether true or not, these are serious charges that the court is unlikely to dismiss. Gender discrimination and harassment are not new in tech companies, and Perez describes what could be a widely spread toxic culture rather than one or two dishonest employees.
