SPRING
Astros leader George Springer is lucky to reach the post-season record for most home games in a row. Springer logged in for a fifth straight match Friday as Houston beat Cleveland 7-2 to open his AL Division series.
Springer dominated the last four games of the World Series last year, winning the MVP title and propelling Houston to its first championship. He will then face Carlos Carrasco, Indians, in the second match at Minute Maid Park.
Daniel Murphy scored the league record by placing six straight playoff games for the Mets in 2015. The five straight games for Springer are tied for second place with Carlos Beltran, who did it with Astros in 2004
CHECKING THE PRICE
David Price (16-7, 3.58 ERA) takes on Masahiro Tanaka (12-6, 3.75) and rival Yankees as Boston tries to take a 2-0 lead in his AL Division series at Fenway Park. Price has averaged 4.90 in 42 career appearances (41 starts) against the Yankees and has struggled a lot since signing a $ 217 million seven-year contract with the Red Sox before the 2016 season. He was 0-3 with a 10.34 ERA at four starts against New York this year, but 9-2 with a 2.98 ERA at Fenway.
The Yankees could be without central defender Aaron Hicks, who left the opener tight on Friday night and was replaced by Brett Gardner. Hicks changed the same hamstring at the end of September and missed three games before returning to training.
"It will be reviewed further tomorrow and will have an MRI and everything," said manager Aaron Boone. "He had the impression that it could have been cramped, so he'll have to see."
