Here is an overview of the best and worst performances of the Jets after Sunday's loss.
STUD: LB Brandon Copeland
Copeland was explosive at first, registering a tackle for a loss and a bag on two consecutive plays during the second training of the Vikings. Copeland returned to Stefon Diggs for a 6-yard loss on the second run, then dropped Kirk Cousins for a 13-yard loss – and almost finished with safety – in the third. These two pieces forced the Vikings to beat their own ball. Earlier possession, the Vikings seemed unstoppable on a ruthlessly hit hit.
DUD: WR Andre Roberts
Roberts struggled with testing throughout the afternoon. Yes, the wind had something to do with the struggles. But he was not able to grab the first kick that he managed to get despite the lack of leeway and let him bounce back. This cost the Jets at least a few meters of position. He then crushed a punt in the second quarter inside the 10th, but he recovered it. He let a kitty pass over his head, which then rolled inside 10 late in the third quarter as well. Yes, he had a throwback return of 53 yards that led to a field placement, but the negatives still outweigh Roberts' positives.
STUD: TE Chris Herndon
Herndon was one of Darnold's favorite targets – and the most productive ones. He caught four passes for 42 yards, including a 12-yard pass that tied the game at 7-7 with 1:01 remaining in the second quarter. This is the second week in a row that both rookies have played a TD pass. It seems that Herndon is beginning to play a bigger role in this offense.
