'Star Trek: Discovery': Michelle Yeoh will star in Georgiou Spinoff

Bow to Emperor Georgiou: Michelle Yeoh is in talks to pick her up Star Trek: Discovery role in an autonomous spin-off, according to our sister site Deadline.

If it materializes, the spin-off Georgiou would join the previously announced spin-off of Jean-Luc Picard (with Patrick Stewart returning to play the iconic role The next generation captain) and animated comedy Lower bridges expanding CBS All Access Star Trek franchise. Star Trek: Discovery returns for season 2 on the streamer on Thursday 17 January with Ethan Peck in the cast as a young Spock.

Yeoh played the DiscoveryCaptain Philippa Georgiou in season 1 of the CBS All Access series; she was killed early, but returned later this season as a ruthless counterpart of the mirror universe, Emperor Georgiou. She also has to return for season 2, with Emperor Georgiou involved in Starfleet Section 31, a very secretive division introduced for the first time in New deep space. (She was recruited to join the division in a deleted scene from the Season 1 final.) This spin-off would extend Georgiou's story about Section 31.

Yeoh co-starred in this summer's big screen success Crazy Rich Asians, with action blockbusters like Tiger crouching Hidden Dragon and Tomorrow never dies. His other TV credits include Marco Polo and Strike Back.
