Hamill is considered as the keeper of the Star Wars flame by many fans. His open and sometimes coded disapproval of The Last Jedi reinforced the widespread belief that Luke's behavior was against nature and undermined all candor. Phil Szostak is the Artistic Director of Lucasfilm and author of The Art of Awakening the Force, The Art of the Last Jedi and the Art of Solo: A Star Wars Story.
He has just re-launched the entire debate by posting the picture below and essentially confirming that Johnson was not responsible for Luke's behavior regarding division.
He tweeted a picture by Lucasfilm design supervisor, Christian Alzmann labeled: "My first image I made for StarWars: TheForceAwakens.This was in January 2013. Luke was described as a guy from Colonel Kurtz hiding from the world in a cave … I've had a "Fabulouso" from George on it. "
This completely changes what fans might think they know and forces everyone to review Johnson's work. But is it so simple?
Adam Lance Garcia, producer of Yahoo Entertainment, asked: "So correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that Luke in The Last Jedi was pretty consistent, or at least inspired by Lucas' vision?"
