(Reuters) – According to a note from chief executive Kevin Johnson, Starbucks Corp is planning an organizational restructuring that includes changes in management.

"There will be job losses, role extensions and redeployments," a company spokeswoman told Reuters.

The changes come at a time when the largest coffee retailer in the world is facing a series of challenges, including a cooling US market and stiff competition from competitors, while embarking on a massive expansion project in the United States. China.

"From next week until mid-November, teams will evolve in the size, scope and goals of their teams," Johnson said in a memo last week.

Starbucks has had two high-profile outlets since June, including Howard Schultz, his former executive director, whose departure has left investors worried about how the company would evolve after almost four decades of almost constant attendance by Schultz.
