It seems the Pittsburgh Steelers are tired of the Le'Veon Bell drama. The star running back has been lagging since the start of the off season and there is no reason to believe he will arrive soon.
With his delay now in week 3 of the NFL season, Adam Schefter of ESPN said the team is listening to commercial offers for Bell.
Obviously, there are quite a few teams that could interest Bell, even considering the fact that it requires an incredible contract. Teams with a salary cap will be the focal points of any potential deal, but we will look at it from different angles when we separate Bell's key potential business partners.
First, here is an overview of the teams currently able to acquire Bell's contract for the rest of the year without making a move, thanks to Yates ESPN field.
Let's take a look at the teams that make the most sense, as well as a few who will simply have a major need for the rusher All-Pro.
New York Jets
The Jets have a good catch up at Bilal Powell and new rider Isaiah Crowell, so that does not make sense, right? Well, Powell should become a free agent after this season and the Crowell deal has a few outs after this season, as Spotrac reveals. The team could separate from him and suffer losses of $ 2 million while freeing up space in the process.
While this is essentially about giving up a player who has just been signed, talents like Bell are not available every day. And the idea of pairing the star with rookie Sam Darnold to make his life easier must be appealing.
UPDATE
By Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News, the Jets showed interest in Bell.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts have looked far for a running back who can thrive while working with Andrew Luck and other offensive weapons such as TY Hilton If money is available (which is the case), Bell could be perfect, in assuming the Colts are doing well by throwing sponge on their current young runners.
Indianapolis calls on Jordan Wilkins, Ole Miss's running back, who has shone but does not look like a setback. It could be a solid complement to Bell, however, assuming Marlon Mack does not stay around.
Mack is another name that deserves mention, although he missed two weeks to start the 2018 NFL season. Last year, the choice of the fourth lap looked good at times, but it was more efficient than that of the runners. During the year 2017, Mack recorded only 3.8 yards per run over 93 attempts.
San Francisco 49ers
If the 49ers are sold to Matt Breida, they should spend their money on wide receivers for Jimmy Garoppolo. After all, the 23-year-old has done well in early 2018 and is expected to win less than $ 650,000 both this season and next year.
As for the addition of receivers for Garoppolo, Bell is one of the best defenders of the NFL. He captured 312 passes in 62 career games for 2,660 yards and seven touchdowns. He and Garoppolo could immediately propel the 49ers' offensive to another level.
Update
49ers midfielder Matt Breida suffered a frightening contactless injury in the third week. If he spends too much time or if the injury is serious, the 49ers will probably become the favorites to buy Bell, even if only for one season.
Via Rob Lowder from Niners Wire:
The big disclaimer? Jerick McKinnon. The 49ers have signed up for a $ 30 million contract over four years this season, but depending on the structure of the contract, the team could come out without a huge success, as Spotrac shows. There is a lot of "if" about this situation, but it's a question to watch for, even though Bell has just been introduced for a season.
Oakland Raiders
Nobody seems to want to address the fact that the Raiders have virtually no going back after the 2018 NFL season. With Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin's contracts expiring and Jalen Richard becoming a restricted free agent in 2019, via Spotrac, the team's options are limited.
Even DeAndre Washington is only under contract for a year, leaving rookie Chris Warren, a free agent not removed from his job, next year. While the former Texas back looked good during the 2018 pre-season, it would not be prudent to bet on him as an immediate starter this season.
Jon Gruden did not want to spend money with Khalil Mack, but we know that Chucky loves his attack. Could he get a little crazy and play a role in unlocking big money at one of the NFL's top runners?
