A 90-year-old man from California was arrested Tuesday after the death of his daughter-in-law, authorities said.

Police conducted a social security test on September 13, after Karen Navarra, 67, failed to report for work, the San Jose Mercury News reported. The body of Navarre was found in his home in San José with visible injuries, according to the newspaper.

An autopsy revealed that Navarra had died of blunt trauma, police said.

An investigation led to the arrest of his father-in-law, Anthony Aiello, on suspicion of murder. According to the newspaper, he was held without bail in Santa Clara County Prison.

One reason was not immediately clear, the newspaper reported.

The authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact the San Jose Police Department's homicide unit at 408-277-5283.
