OAKLAND – Besides talent, teamwork and strategy, there is another essential element to winning an NBA championship.
Luck.
In fact, luck often trumps the other three and is the only totally arbitrary factor.
The Warriors have had their luck in recent years, and they had a huge measure on Friday morning when Stephen Curry was involved in a car accident.
On her way from her Alamo home to Oakland's Rakuten Performance Center, the black Curry Porsche was hit twice in the western portion of Highway 24, about four miles from the team's facility. According to the California Highway Patrol, the first car, which patrolled on a wet pavement, crashed against Curry, while the second, its Porsche, was in the back.
That's where luck gets involved: Curry walks away. His car was badly damaged, but he was unhurt.

Such news provides everyone with a fundamental interest for the Warriors, or is on the team's payroll, a moment to sing for joy. This gives every compassionate human being a reason to pause and really, really savor his next breath.
No need to call back, but all the time, God is Great and God is Great all the time! Enjoy all the texts.

As we know, warriors have not always felt the warmth that accompanies luck. They are not so far from the night when it was announced that their best player, Monta Ellis, had been injured in a moped accident and would miss several months. They have already trained a player, the late Cyril Baptiste, with undisputed gifts, but also a heroin addiction.
The most notable example of the Warriors' bad luck is perhaps that of 1985. It was the first year of the provisional lottery and they had finished 22-60, equalizing with Indiana the worst league record, which gave them a great chance to reach the # 1 overall pick. There were then seven lottery teams. The then Commissioner, David Stern, took envelopes containing the logos of the seven teams.
The warriors' envelope came out first, which means they would choose seventh place. The face of Al Attles, then General Manager, went from optimism to despondency. Their hope of recruiting Patrick Ewing – who had expressed the desire to come to the Bay Area to reconnect with his university teammate, Sleepy Floyd – was ranked number one ahead of the Knicks.
The Warriors chose Chris Mullin, a member of the Hall of Famer, but not a franchise savior.
Lately, however, the luck of the franchise has turned. The ankle problems caused by Curry's early career, who believed his career was in danger, became much less problematic. Finding Draymond Green in the second round was a chance as much as a judgment. Their rise to the top of the NBA was largely because the main players were in good health at the most critical moments.
Curry has missed the last seven games due to an injury to the groin. It will be missing some others. But he may come back before the end of the month. The accident did not affect the timing of his return.
The MVP twice actually managed to get treatment at Rakuten. He entered the school. Credit any number of items for this, but luck must be among them.
