Steve Smith and Michael Irvin argue over NFL Network

Steve Smith still does not laugh at Michael Irvin.

The quarrel between analysts at NFL Networks took another strange turn Thursday night on the show Ravens and Bengals after Irvin wondered if Smith was a viable option for quarterback Joe Flacco when the two men passed time in Baltimore.

Irvin said that Anquan Boldin, who played two years for the Ravens from 2010 to 2012, was the last trusted receiver of Flacco. He has not forgotten that Smith played for the Ravens from 2014 to 2016. Irvin tried to defend his decision by evoking the history of Smith's injuries (he missed 11 games in three seasons), but Smith has deviated and won individual successes.

"I understand you have the rings, but I've spent years statistically …," Smith said, bringing statistics into his argument. "I got a PhD in the process of execution. You have an associate degree, playa. This community college.

Smith ranks seventh with 14,731 yards over 16 seasons. Hall of Fame member Irvin traveled 11,904 yards over 12 seasons.

The quarrel with the two talking heads began last year when Irvin mocked Smith's black and gray plaid pants. At the time, 39-year-old Smith told Irvin that he was going to "break his mouth" when he was in Los Angeles.
