Actor Michael Rapaport is called a hero after preventing a passenger from opening an emergency exit window on a cross-country flight during the weekend.

I am "nicknamed the white Wesley Snipes" and "the word h", the "atypical" star said Sunday on his podcast, where he recounted the incident.

In the latest episode of "I Am Rapaport: Stereo Podcast", he stated that the "scary" event occurred on an American Airlines flight that left at 7 am from Houston to Los Angeles. Rapaport said that he was sitting in first class with some old basketball players who were sleeping.

"The guy next to me wakes up and sneaks into his seat and hits me," Rapaport said. He looked back and saw a man trying to open the emergency exit door from the plane.

"I got up from my seat, half asleep, with my helmet in the ear, and I put my hand on his shoulder, like" What's (the explicit) are you? "He had two hands on the lever," Rapaport said. "I said it three times, loudly, the second time I said it, he still had his hand on the (explicit) thing … I sort of got him stuck against the seat is in 45 seconds.

Rapaport said that the man "did not resist me, but he kept going to the door." Eventually, other passengers and flight attendants helped move the man away from the door and into the bathroom. The flight landed safely.

"Everyone thanked me and everyone told me that I was brave and heroic, I consider myself an ordinary man who does unusual things," Rapaport said. "I will not confirm or deny it, but they speak statues."
