Storms draw snow into the north and flood the valley

PHOENIX – Nocturnal storms dropped measurable snow in northern Arizona and resulted in record rainfall in the valley.

According to the Flagstaff National Weather Service, several snowfalls have been observed in the north of the country. Bellemont recorded a thumb, Williams saw 2 inches and Snowbowl Estates was 4.5 inches. Arizona Snowbowl has reported 6 inches, and they are waiting at 15 inches until Monday.

The ski center does not open until 40 days.

Early Sunday morning, there were reports of whiteout conditions on Interstate 17 near Flagstaff. Drivers are being asked to slow down today.

In the valley, showers and thunderstorms poured 0.41 cm of rain early in the morning, a new daily rainfall record. Several flood warnings have been issued.

This is the third wettest October ever recorded in Phoenix.

Sunday afternoon also brought rain and even hail, mainly in the west of the valley.
