Study: BPA-free plastic remains dangerous
A recent study by Washington State University suggests that some alternatives to bisphenol A (BPA), the potentially harmful plastic compound once found in water bottles and many other plastics, can cause similar side effects. Researchers first discovered reproductive problems in mice after their BPA-free cages were found to have leached chemicals from alternative compounds such as bisphenol S and diphenylsulfone. This led scientists to directly test rodents with alternatives to BPA. According to the reproductive biologist who led the study, replacements behaved "much like BPA".
