Suffering from kidney disease? Have this drink!

Kidney disease is painful and the risk of death in patients with kidney failure is higher. However, a new study came to their aid. The study indicates that caffeine consumption could help patients reduce the risk of death.

In this new study, a team of researchers speculated that caffeine consumption may be associated with lower mortality risk in patients with chronic kidney disease. Scientists understood that the possible positive effect of caffeine could be related to its vascular properties. Caffeine is known to promote the release of nitric oxide, which improves the function of the vessel.

It was noted in a survey that the number of Indians going on dialysis increased by 10 to 15% per year and that their numbers would also increase worldwide. One of the study's lead authors, Miguel Bigotte Vieira, said in a statement: "Our study has shown a protective effect of caffeine consumption in patients with chronic kidney disease. The reduction in mortality was present even after considering other important factors such as age, sex, race, smoking and diet.

"These results suggest that advising patients with kidney disease to drink more caffeine can reduce their mortality. This would represent a simple, clinically beneficial and inexpensive option, although this benefit should ideally be confirmed in a randomized clinical trial, "Vieira added in the study.

Posted in the journal, Nephrology Dialysis TransplantationThe team pointed out that their observational study can not prove that caffeine reduces the risk of death in patients with chronic renal failure, but this could indicate that there are possible protective effects of caffeine in these patients.
