Former New Hampshire governor John Sununu (R) on Monday accused Democrats of "using and abusing" Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who had accused new Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of Being sexually assaulted during his appointment process.
Sununu also said the party was a victim of the woman who had publicly stated that Kavanaugh had attempted to rape her while they were in high school.
"Contrary to what the liberal media say, Democrats will pay the price for using and abusing Dr. Ford in this process," Sununu told Fox News, where he appears frequently.
"Even if part of their base recedes and examines what happened, they will see that Mr. Ford has been a victim of the Democratic Party in this process," he added.
He accused the Democrats of having published Ford's anonymous letter to Senator Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.), Asserting that Ford's identity was "revealed when she did not want her name." ".
Feinstein denied publishing Ford's letter.
"The Republicans treated her with respect, even going as far as a professional interrogation so that she did not feel uncomfortable," he added, referring to the Outside lawyer the Republicans hired to handle Ford's interrogation during the hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Sununu said that Kavanaugh's emotional and aggressive testimony at the hearing in late September was a response to "the abusive tactics of Democrats on the committee."
During his testimony, Ford accused Kavanaugh of having sexually assaulted him at a party in 1982, claiming that he categorically denied it.
Several Republican leaders claimed to believe Ford had been attacked, but did not believe Kavanaugh was his attacker, which his lawyers denounced.
"She testified that she knew him, he knew her and she knows exactly who sexually assaulted her that day," said Lisa Banks, a Ford lawyer, on NBC.
Ford can not return home because of the number of death threats she's still receiving, her lawyers told NBC Sunday.
