Surgical Strokes: Will there be another surgery? This is what the army chief said | News from India

NEW DELHI: Army chief Bipin Rawat said Sunday that surgical strikes are a weapon of surprise and must remain one, reported the ANI news agency.

He was answering a question about whether India would send its forces for another surgical strike in Pakistan, similar to the one that was conducted in 2016 and during which dozens of terrorists were killed.

Speaking about the killing of BSF soldier Narendra Singh by Pakistani troops, General Rawat said it was not the first time Pakistan had performed such a "barbarous act" and that his army was in the habit of doing it.

Singh was tortured and brutally murdered by Pakistani troops near the international border in Jammu last week.

General Rawat also criticized Pakistan for disrupting the peace in the valley and trying to radicalise the youth of Kashmir.

"Pakistan wants this kind of problem (of violence) to continue in Kashmir, they want peace not to come back to this region, they are trying to radicalise Kashmir's youth, Pakistan has decided to bleed India with thousand cuts, "he was quoted by the ANI news agency.

He reiterated his earlier remarks on the dialogue with Pakistan, saying that the government had made the right decision (to cancel the meeting) while negotiations on terrorism and peace can not go together.

On Saturday, General Rawat had to be harsh in revenge for the barbarity of terrorists and the Pakistani army against Indian soldiers without resorting to brutality.

"We must take tough measures to avenge the kind of barbarity that the terrorists and the Pakistani army have committed against our soldiers, and it is time to reciprocate them, but not by resorting to the same barbarity." "I think the other party must feel the same pain," said the army chief at a press conference yesterday.
