Each week, host Jeff Probst will answer some questions about the latest episode of Survivor: David vs Goliath.
WEEKLY ENTERTAINMENT: We saw Mike respond to your slogan "You have nothing for you" with "We have nothing for you either". In fact, you like the competitors to do it a little, is not it? ? After all, I remember some of those classic interactions of yesteryear between Probst and Penner.
JEFF PROBST: Ah, it's the best! Most of these "survivor sentences," I say, are really ridiculous and yet, because we're stuck with them, they're now an integral part of the game. I always have a hard time saying them because on the one hand, it's the tongue in the cheeks, and on the other, it's Survivor gospel. But, it takes some courage to tell a story to a player to send it back to me and land it. From time to time, players will try to make a similar type of joke and it just does not work. Mike White is obviously a storyteller from the Hall of Fame and it was a great moment.
After Mike had his epiphany that Christian had to leave and everyone had embarked, Angelina pointed out that she had been pushing for the same thing in the previous vote to no avail, while also doing notice that when a woman was trying to lead the planning this season that she had been ignored. You have seen a lot of Survivor in your day. In general, did you notice a difference in how the ideas of men and women are received in this game?
Yes absolutely. I think that if we look back over the past seasons and study how the interactions between women and men have changed over the years, we would be shocked. Survivor is a microcosm for life and what Angelina refers to reflects what is happening in our culture at large. Relations between men and women are undergoing a radical change. It's a necessary change and I find it very exciting. And this changing landscape has an impact Survivor.
For example, I can not imagine doing another "Men vs. Women" season. It just seems ridiculous right now. And I find it interesting that Angelina has a lot of fans, but also a lot of detractors. People who think that she is too bossy or arrogant. You can list many men who have played similar types of games and that is often called "threats". Of course, in this situation, a multitude of potential mitigating circumstances (such as trust issues or bragging rights) may have contributed to the way Angelina was treated. But overall, I think we will continue to see a shift in gender relations. This is one of the anthropological benefits of this delightful "social experience" that we like to call … Survivor!
So Davie and Dan both play their idols, and then John goes home. Some big reactions from people when these three events happened. By being on the scene, what did you think of the situation and how do you think people were most surprised by this chain of events?
My biggest tribal delivery like this is: "we're getting the right people on this season!", So that's how you play this game. People play to win and I'm sure you'll be happy. love it. I sincerely believe that the reason we have not seen a resentful jury for years is due to the mutual admiration and respect everyone has for the way most people play football. They all know that it's a deception game. The key is, I need to have you before you take me. The complication arises when we realize that we could go further in the game by working together. We now have a relationship and trust begins to develop and the game becomes more difficult.
But when you see this kind of game going on at the Tribal Council, you know it comes from players who realize that no matter who I promise or who I trust or trust, it's always game of "I have to get you before you take me.
So Johnny Mundo gets caught in the double idol game. He certainly looked like a Goliath when he showed up this season. How would you summarize his time on the island?
We really wanted John in the Goliath tribe, but there was a timing problem and we were told that he could not do it. It was a major disappointment. Then one day, I received a call – "His schedule has changed, he can do it!" It was one of the best days of the casting because we knew that John would bring the physical representation of a Goliath, but also many more layers that would surprise people. . John is a deep thinker and a smart guy. We hated losing it. I think he was playing again, he might play a little more aggressively, but I really enjoyed having it on the island.
It seems that the change will continue next week. What can you tell us about what's coming?
Uh … let's see … how should I say that? Well, it's the night before Thanksgiving, you do not have school the next day and you probably do not have a job … so you should not miss it! What do you mean? This is a really fun episode that the public will love.
