AKRON, Ohio – Police believe in an accidental weapon in the abdomen. .
Police Officers from the University and Akron Police Department Responded to a call for a shot in the Exchange Hall Street Hall, according to a statement from the university.
Officers found a 19-year-old man, who was not a University of Akron student, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to Akron General Clinic Cleveland Hospital, police said.
A 17-year-old boy, who is "known to be acquainted" with the victim, was taken into police custody.
School officials lifted the lock after 15 minutes.
Police have not released the names of the victim or suspect, but have said that neither are UA students.
The investigation is ongoing.
