SANTA MONICA, California –

A man identified as the suspect in the murder of two homeless men in Los Angeles could also be linked to the disappearance of two members of his own family in the Houston area, according to police sources.

Ramon Escobar was arrested in connection with a series of vicious beatings of homeless men while they were sleeping in downtown Los Angeles.

Two of the victims died later and one was left in critical condition. Police said the suspect used a baseball bat to attack his victims while sleeping and then stole them. He also reportedly beat another man sleeping under the Santa Monica wharf.

Eyewitness News has learned that Escobar was wanted in connection with the disappearance of two siblings in the Houston area last month.

Rogelio and Dina Escobar disappeared in August a few days apart. First, Rogelio disappeared and Dina disappeared a few days later when she went to fetch her brother.

The investigators then found a torched vehicle on a Galveston beach linked to Dina Escobar.

The exact link of Ramon Escobar with their disappearance has not been detailed. Los Angeles police should hold a press conference on Tuesday to discuss the case.

Earlier Monday, Los Angeles police announced the arrest of Ramon Escobar. The 47-year-old man has been sentenced for murder and is being held without bail, the LAPD said in a press release.
