BOSTON (AP) – A union said the 45-day strike by Marriott hotel workers in Boston was over after the workers ratified a new agreement.

Unite Here Union of Local 26 announced Saturday that the workers had approved the agreement at an afternoon vote. The details have not been unveiled, but union officials say the contract concerns wages, job security and other problems.

A spokesperson for Marriott International confirmed the agreement and said Marriott officials were eager to welcome the workers.

More than 1,500 trade unionists from seven Marriott hotels went on strike in early October after months of seeking better compensation in contract negotiations. The organizers call it the first strike in the city.

More than 5,000 Marriott employees in San Francisco and Hawaii remain on strike, while agreements have been reached in several other cities to end the walkouts.
