While counting votes in several states, Democrats have regularly won victories across the country, strengthening their grip on the US House of Representatives and state offices. The slow victories gave the party a lot to celebrate.

President Donald Trump was quick to claim his party's victory on election night. But the Democrats, who reached the bottom of the political scene barely two years ago, have now won at least 32 seats in the House – and lead in four others – in addition to overthrowing seven governors and eight legislative chambers. .

They are about to lose two Senate seats in a year, both parties have predicted more. On Monday night, Democratic representative Kyrsten Sinema won the race in the Arizona Senate, beating Republican Representative Martha McSally to fill the seat occupied by outgoing Senator GOP, Jeff Flake.

The overall results of the nation's first nationwide Trump presidential election represent the Democratic Party's best mid-term performance since Watergate.
