Tara Reid clarifies what happened to her Delta flight Monday afternoon, an incident that forced her to travel on a different flight with her 3 month old support dog.

In a long statement posted Wednesday on her Instagram account, the star of "Sharknado" said the information that she was fired from the flight was "completely false".

Reid explains that after refusing to place her dog in the top luggage chests or in the belly of the plane, she "graciously declined and landed the plane on my own".

She described the "ridiculous request" to put her puppy in a laundry basket as "absurd", referring to the dog who died earlier this year after being placed in a wastebasket.

Reid also called TMZ, who was the first to report the incident with a video of Reid and his dog leaving the plane.

"I do not appreciate the misrepresentations of TMZ that add to false claims about what really happened," she wrote. "I would also like to deny the last statement claiming that they had contacted my representative to comment on it, which is also wrong.NONE anyone on my team has ever received a call or any other communication from any media for comments. "

Reid's representative confirmed to USA TODAY on Monday that the actress was the person removed from the flight but declined to comment further.

Without providing details on what triggered the incident, a Delta spokesman said Monday: "Delta Flight 613 between Los Angeles and New York, JFK-International has returned to the front gate before taking off because of a disruption affecting customers on board. "

"Delta apologizes to the remaining customers for the inconvenience and appreciates their patience as the situation is resolved," continued the carrier, adding that "the flight was redefined for New York after a short delay."
