Here's another reason to check your freezer: The United States Department of Agriculture says that some of the 132,000 pounds of ground beef Recalled last week may have been sold nationwide in stores including Target, Safeway and Sam's Club.

On Sept. 19, the USDA's Food Inspection and Safety Service announced that Cargill Meat Solutions was recalling 66 tonnes of ground beef products made from the cow's chuck portion for eventuality. E. coli contamination.

According to the agency, the products could have been sold nationwide to Meijer, Safeway / Albertson and Target, as well as to Aldi's stores in Iowa, Illinois, the United States. Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Other retailers that may have sold the products: FoodMaxx, Pak N Save and Vons in California.

Additional retailers may have obtained the product and all identified stores have not necessarily received the product, says the USDA.

Officials are concerned that some buyers have bought ground beef products and put them in the freezer. Consumers who bought the products are asked not to consume them, according to the agency. Instead, they should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

An investigation into potentially contaminated ground beef identified 17 illnesses and one death with disease onset dates from July 5th to July 25th.

The authorities stated that the ground beef was produced and packaged on June 21, 2018 and that it affected 12 different Cargill products. The complete list of products can be found on the USDA website.

The recalled products bear establishment number "EST. 86R "inside the inspection mark of the USDA. This marks the second consecutive month in which Cargill, a Colorado meat producer, has recalled thousands of pounds of ground beef for potential E. coli risks.

Cargill recalled more than 25,000 pounds of ground beef for an E. coli risk on August 23rd. According to the USDA, no adverse effects due to the consumption of products has been confirmed.
