BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – "Nobody Eats Alone" and "Start with Good Morning" initiatives are two of the new Brevard school slogans that aim to make all children feel loved and not alone.
Efforts are also under way for teachers and students to recognize the signs of a child who feels isolated.
These improvements are due to the dedication of Liz Mikitarian, vice chair of the suicide prevention group Hannah & # 39; s Heroes Teen of North Brevard, and Lori Duester of the Children & # 39; s Center & Suicide Prevention Program Sources of Teen Strength, which with 30 other Task Force on Youth Mental Health.

RECOGNITION OF WARNING SIGNALS FOR MENTAL HEALTH
Coordinating improvements in the way that law enforcement forces interact with the mental health community is a priority, in order to better manage the difficult period of a mental crisis.
When kids are "Baker Acted" because of concerns for their safety, they are often removed from their families, which causes more concern.
Brevard's public schools are on board and provide life-saving training for teachers and students to recognize the signs of a struggling, lonely, isolated and suffering child.
National models are being incorporated, based on lessons learned from tragedies, such as school shootings in Sandy Hook and Parkland.
In North Brevard County, the Pilot Club created the Hannah Cline Memorial Scholarship, which will award $ 7,000 to Brevard students undertaking a study program in the area of mental health.
"Although we have a long way to go, things are improving and we are very grateful to all our concerned friends from Brévard who are joining this vital effort," said Mikitarian.

The Central Florida Humanitarian Laureates will be honored at a gala event on Thursday, November 8th at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place in Melbourne, Florida.
The Central Florida Humanitarian Awards were created nine years ago by Space Coast Daily Recognize outstanding individuals and organizations who dedicate their time, talent or treasures to helping those in need, locally and around the world.

TIME: In this category, consider candidates who have selflessly and consistently devoted themselves as volunteers in hospitals and retirement homes, in activities for the less fortunate and as organizers, administrators or agents in the many other altruistic activities of our community.
