Fans know a lot about Taylor Swift's cats. And his exes. Oh, and this whole story of Kanye West.

But until now, the star has not talked much about politics. That changed Sunday night, when Swift posted a long Instagram message about his race in the Tennessee Senate, in his home town, denouncing Republican President Marsha Blackburn.

"In the past, I was reluctant to publicly express my political views, but because of many events in my life and around the world in the past two years, I have a very different opinion about it now," said the 28-year-old star pop wrote.

I am writing this article about the upcoming mid-term elections on November 6th, during which I will be voting in the state of Tennessee. In the past, I have been reluctant to publicly express my political views, but because of many events in my life and around the world in the past two years, I have a very different opinion about it now. I have always voted and will always vote according to the candidate who will protect and defend the human rights we all deserve in this country. I believe in the struggle for LGBTQ rights and for the fact that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is FALSE. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, disgusting and widespread. I can not vote for someone who will not want to fight for the dignity of ALL Americans, no matter the color of their skin, their gender or the ones they like. In the state of Tennessee, a woman named Marsha Blackburn is a candidate in the Senate. Although in the past and I want to continue to vote for women in office, I can not support Marsha Blackburn. His voting record in Congress bothers me and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the law on the re-authorization of violence against women, which aims to protect women from domestic violence, criminal harassment and date rape. She believes that businesses have the right to refuse to serve gay couples. She also thinks that they should not have the right to get married. These are not my Tennessee values. I will vote for Phil Bredesen in the Senate and Jim Cooper in the House of Representatives. Please, please, find out about the candidates who are in your state and vote according to who best represents your values. For many of us, it is possible that we never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on each point, but we still have to vote. So many intelligent, thoughtful and confused people are 18 years old in the last two years and now have the right and the privilege to make their vote count. But you must first register, which is quick and easy to do. October 9th is the last day to register to vote in the state of TN. Go to vote.org and you will find all the information. Good vote! ???

She continued, "As much as in the past, I would like to continue to vote for the women in office, I can not support Marsha Blackburn, her Congressional vote record is so annoying and terrifying to me. not MY Tennessee values. "

Swift called Blackburn 's vote against the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act and his position against equality in marriage. She concluded by approving Blackburn's competitor, Phil Bredesen, and US Representative Jim Cooper, and encouraging his supporters to register and vote.

The famous quarrels: 10 celebrity beef

Some Swift fans had fun with his statement out of the character. A Twitter user, KB, said, "If you had told me two years ago that Kanye was running in a MAGA hat while Taylor Swift was supporting Democratic candidates, I would have hit you on the ground and stole your wallet. for having lost my time. "

Another fan, Emery Lord, tweeted: "RIP campaign Marsha Blackburn, cause of death on Taylor Swift's Instagram account".

And the trans writer, Charlotte Clymer, tweeted, "All arms crossed, people, no time to say nonsense, let's win this thing."

But many on Twitter were not happy with Tay-Tay. A user tweeted, "I just destroyed my Taylor Swift music CD, I do not care if a celebrity is a Dem or a representative, as long as I do not know, take action, listen to your music, practice your sport; do not tell me your policy or do not try to defend me as a candidate, do your thing !! "

"Bad initiative, politics has ruined your career, you've chosen the wrong side," said another user.

And another tweeted: "I'm so disappointed in you, it makes it clear that you have your Liberal paycheck and you do not think I would see the day, and here's another one that will end up in the tube.

Bredesen responded with his own tweet shortly after, thanking Swift and saying "honored by your support and that of so many Tennesseans who are willing to put aside partisan cries and get things done."

The Blackburn campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
