"We are seeing tens of millions of dollars pouring into the state of Texas since Liberals across the country desperately want to turn the state of Texas into blue," said Cruz. "They want us to be like California, up to tofu, silicon and dyed hair."

Cruz added that his wife, Heidi Cruz, was a "Californian vegetarian".

"She is wonderful, but I took her to the great state of Texas," Cruz said.

Cruz's video was part of an event in Katy, Texas, according to a video broadcast on his Twitter account, and came to counter a challenge from Democratic Rep. Beto O. Rourke in November.

While Texas is generally considered a Republican stronghold, O 'Rourke's offer has been the focus of national attention, and an August poll showed that Cruz had only a slight advanced.

At Saturday's event, Cruz opposed O 'Rourke, saying he was "going strong, left" and compared him to Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders.

A report from the New York Times published this weekend on the basis of the audio obtained by the Times of Mick Mulvaney, a senior official of the Trump administration, showed the great Republican alluding to the concerns about the strength of Cruz in his country. Mulvaney said that "it was a very real possibility", the GOP would lose Cruz's seat, according to the newspaper.

"I do not think it's likely, but it's a possibility," Mulvaney said. "How friendly is a candidate?" It still counts.

Republican National Committee President Ronna McDaniel told CBS Sunday that she was fighting Mulvaney. She predicted that the Republicans would not lose the seat and congratulated Cruz as "an excellent representative for Texas".

"I think he's very friendly," she added de Cruz.
