According to reports, a Michigan teenager accused of fatally stabbing a classmate "smiled and laughed" during the attack.

Two dozen students watched in horror as 17-year-old Tanaya Lewis killed 16-year-old Danyna Gibson with a kitchen knife in a classroom Wednesday at Fitzgerald High School in Warren, Michigan, Fox 2 Detroit reported on Friday.

"Witnesses said that the accused was smiling and laughing while pursuing the victim," Warren police detective Donald Seidel told a judge on Friday, the WXYZ television channel reported on Saturday. -TV.

Prosecutors said Mr. Lewis shouted, "I'm going to kill her," according to a teacher who was trying to get her out of the classroom.

She said "yes" to the judge when she was asked if she understood that she was facing life behind bars with no possibility of parole.

Danyna's family is seeking funds from GoFundMe for her funeral.
