An 18-year-old hiker died Wednesday after falling off a cliff in Yosemite National Park, according to the National Parks Service.
The officials did not disclose details of what led to the death of the teenager.
The teenager has been identified as Tomer Frankfurter, a resident of Jerusalem, the Times of Israel reported, citing the country's foreign ministry.
Frankfurter's mother told The Times that he had slipped while trying to take a selfie at the edge of Nevada Fall.
The fall was estimated at 820 feet, reported the Fresno Bee. Nevada Fall is a six-hour hike from the Yosemite Valley, most of which takes place along the iconic Half Dome Road, according to the Fresno Bee.
His body is being transported to Israel for burial, the newspaper reported.
Park visitors are urged to prepare for the harsh conditions and dangers of terrain and wildlife, reported ABC Los Angeles KABC.
The National Parks Service did not immediately return ABC News' request for additional information.
Frankfurter was not the only teenager to die in a cell-related crash this week.
In New York, a 15-year-old girl died while she was attending a party in the Tribeca neighborhood, the New York Daily News reported.
According to the Daily News, the second-year high school student was on an emergency exit on the fifth floor, trying to retrieve her phone from a locked room by the window. She then slipped and fell, landing on the sidewalk.
