Free Press editors Jeff Seidel and Dave Birkett analyze the collapse of the Lions against the Vikings in Minneapolis and wonder why their team fell on November 4, 2018.

Dave Birkett, sports reporter at the Detroit Free Press, takes a look at three Detroit Lions players who helped their stock Sunday 24-9 defeat at the Minnesota Vikings and three who hurt their stock:
Three on
DT Damon Harrison
If you're thinking about next season (and I can not blame you for that), Harrison is a reason to believe that Lions could one day improve their defense. The big defensive tackle tied for the leading team with six tackles on Sunday and was as good as it was announced since it arrived in a transaction in October of the New York Giants.
Ziggy Ansah
Ansah returned to training on Sunday for the first time since week 1 and, despite her limited role in the stretch, got her second bag of the year. Lions mainly used Ansah for data transmission, and Romeo Okwara started. But their defense will be much better if they can bring back Ansah and contribute regularly, and Sunday was the closest month we attended during the year.
RB Theo Riddick
Riddick did not announce huge numbers on Sunday, but "storing" is not always a matter of statistics. And since Lions do not have many deserving candidates for third place, I put Riddick here. Riddick was the first to replace Golden Tate as a receiver of Lions slot machines. Although he did not play the whole game there, he had enough to prove that the coaches trusted him more than their other options. With eight games to play, he could end with another season of over 70 shots.
Three down

RT Rick Wagner
If Rick Wagner is Andre Drummond of the Lions, Danielle Hunter is his Joel Embiid. Hunter, who played mainly on the left-back of the Vikings, had a career day on Sunday with 3.5 sacks and a fumble was returned for a touchdown as he proved to be irreproachable against Wagner. In three games against Wagner and the Lions, Hunter collected 6.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.
CB Teez Tabor
Tabor said he had lost confidence after another tough Sunday outing, but the Lions must have lost patience with the second-year cornerback. Tabor was beaten for a key conversion in fourth downhill when the game opened and he gave up a handful of other finishes during the day. He also had two penalties and received the nickname "Jeez" Tabor from a Lions fan named Thomas who sent me an email.
The rest of the offensive line
Wagner earned a special mention for his Hunter Masters, but it was not a good day for the Lions offensive line. The Vikings got 10 bags and the Lions averaged 2.6 yards per run after Kerryon Johnson and LeGarrette Blount. T.J. Lang and Taylor Decker missed part of the game due to injury and cramps. The task is only getting worse with Khalil Mack and the Chicago Bears next week.
