Elon Musk could be one of the most colorful CEOs in the world. But his Tesla cars are about to become less colorful.

According to a Musk tweet, Tesla removes metallic black and obsidian metallic silver from its standard color choices.

He said reducing choices would "simplify manufacturing".

Tesla has been able to maintain the level of production – particularly its model 3 – in order to increase its revenues and avoid a possible tightening of the cash position.

Musk's stated that both colors would still be available as "special request, but at a higher price".

He did not say how much these colors would cost.

The service centers of the company, which carry out repairs on the cars already sold, will store the paint colors.

Tesla is already charging $ 1,500 more for some colors, including Dark Blue Metallic, Metallic Silver, Obsidian Black, and Metallic Silver. He charges $ 2,000 more for white multicoat and red multilayer.

Only solid black is included in the base price of one of his cars.

Charging more for some premium colors is a common practice in the automotive industry.
