Tesla Launches "Door to Door" Service Called "Tesla Direct" to Help Deliver Model 3 During Peak Week

Tesla is putting a lot of effort this week with several different initiatives to increase sales and deliveries in the last days of the quarter.

He puts a new one available this weekend: a "door-to-door service" called "Tesla Direct".

As we reported yesterday, Tesla reported the free Supercharging to inventory cars and Model 3 to help sell cars at the end of the quarter.

They offer referral incentive to move already produced inventory vehicles that can be delivered quickly.

Tesla plans to deliver as many cars during the week as Elon Musk even invited Tesla owners to come and help "educate" new buyers to help deliverymen.

Although many employees deliver cars to Tesla's distribution centers, some of them will deliver the doors directly to buyers.

Model 3 buyers in the Los Angeles metropolitan area told Electrek that Tesla's local distribution manager, Jeremy Pomp, had contacted them to offer them the new service.

He wrote in an email:

"I help you deliver your Tesla Model 3 to the Los Angeles area. This door-to-door service is called Tesla Direct. "

Tesla can deliver the car to the customer's home or office.

He continued:

"This Saturday and Sunday, we offer free Tesla Direct service at home or at the office. This is an exciting opportunity to get your car on earlier and without having to pick it up. A Tesla customer experience professional will drive your car to your home or office.

Pomp added that it's on the principle of "first come, first served".

While the Tesla distribution manager says the service is available "free" this weekend, it will apparently also be offered throughout the week.

The new Tesla service comes after Musk tested a new direct delivery process between the factory and the customer in July.

The CEO apparently gave the green light to the project after that – saying that it's "super convenient and the car arrives in perfect condition without wasting plastic wrap".

But now, Tesla also delivers directly to customers outside the area around the Fremont factory.

Electrek's Take

It seems counterintuitive to see Tesla appeal to customers rather than the other way around as it tries to handle a much higher delivery volume.

That said, if the manufacturer does not lack staff in some markets, this could be a good solution to avoid the distribution centers are too cluttered.

If you go to a Tesla store or distribution center these days, you'll see what I'm talking about. Things are crazy there right now.

This is just the latest example of several initiatives taken by Tesla to try to deliver a record number of vehicles this week.
