Tesla unveiled the Model X SUV production in the shadow of its Fremont, Calif., Plant on September 29, 2015.
Hours before the festive event where Tesla's faithful gathered To hear their Almighty Chief preaching the gospel of The Falcon Wing Gates and the Bio-Weapon Defenses, I became one of the first in the world to drive the Model X.
At the time, the Tesla SUV crossover has become a reference in the industry. As a large, high-end electric hybrid SUV, he lives in a segment all by himself.
There really is no direct rivals. There are no other electric vehicles that can match the X model in terms of performance, range and cargo capacity.
Almost three years have passed since the last time I drove the Model X. So I thought that a road trip from northern New Jersey to Wilmington, Delaware, would a good opportunity to discover a new model X P100D and get acquainted with the Tesla SUV.
In addition, the 120-mile drive would finally give me the opportunity to try the much touted Tesla Supercharger network.
Although I spent a lot of time driving the Tesla Model S and Model 3, they usually drove near the headquarters of Business Insider in New York. Which means that I usually do not burn enough range to require recharging.
For our road trip, Tesla provided us with a fully loaded dark blue metallic P100D X model that costs $ 163,250. The Tesla Model X 75D base starts at a more affordable price of $ 79,500.
