Tesla says the Model 3 drive system is designed and validated for more than a million kilometers away.

Today, the automaker has released impressive images of model 3 control units after tests, which, according to Elon Musk, "have traveled 1 million miles".

Last week, we announced that the Tesla Semi was preparing an ambitious goal, namely an electric transmission of a million kilometers.

The electric cart uses model 3 drive units and tests them by driving over long distances and pulling heavy loads.

In 2015, Musk said they "wanted motor units that never wear out," prompting Tesla to change their goal in endurance test.

"We are very satisfied with the quality of the drive unit. We changed the goal of motor unit endurance, which went from about 200,000 kilometers to one million kilometers. We simply want motor units that never wear out. This is our goal. I think we have made very good progress in that direction. the training units coming out now and in recent months have been excellent. "

Electrek's Take

This is good news for the long-term value of Model 3.

One thing I have always suspected about Model 3 is that Tesla designed it for its next "Tesla Network" self-service phone network.

Phone access, the camera facing the cabin and other features like these indicate that the vehicle is designed around the service.

If this became a reality, a model 3 vehicle on the network could become truly profitable and even more so it worked for a long time.

A training unit of one million kilometers could certainly be helpful in this regard.
