Tessa Thompson goes out: "I am attracted to men and also to women"

She also discusses the rumors of a relationship with Janelle Monae: "If people want to speculate on who we are, I do not mind."

On Friday, June 29, actress Tessa Thompson came out in her cover article Net-A-Porter saying, "I am attracted to men and also to women."

Before now, Thompson had not talked about her sexuality, raised by a family that, she said, welcomed her and loved her despite everything. "I want everyone else to have that freedom and the support that I have from my loved ones," she said. "If I bring a woman home, [or] a man, we do not even need to have the discussion."

The sexuality of the actress has sparked speculation when Public attention has increased around her relationship with the artist Janelle Monáe. ] Thompson made cameo appearances as a love interest for two of the singer's musical videos ("Make Me Feel" and "PYNK") from his latest album, Dirty Computer which has Started at # 6 on the Billboard 200 chart last month

It does not seem like Thompson is too concerned about the rumors. "Janelle and I love each other deeply, we are so close, we vibrate on the same frequency," she said, "If people want to speculate on who we are, I do not mind."

Monáe came out as a fagot and was crazy about her cover story Rolling Stone in March, and at the present time neither she nor Thompson are trying to explicitly define their relationship at such a public level, but still aim to use the visibility of celebrity to effect a change

"It's hard, because Janelle and I are really private people." Thompson said. "We're both trying to find out how reconcile yourself by wanting to have that intimacy and that space, and also wanting to use your platform and your influence. "
