A Texas high school principal was put on administrative leave on Friday for claiming that "illegal aliens" are being sentenced to make the United States a "dirty country," the Lufkin Daily News reported.

William Dugat, from Lufkin College, reportedly responded to a Facebook post from a woman photographed with Tex's representative, Beto O 'Rourke, who is running to overthrow Republican Senator in office, Ted Cruz.

"I'm afraid that the United States does look like Mexico and South America with so many illegal aliens hosted in our country," Dugat would have written. "I guess we are doomed to have a dirty country anyway."

Dugat's so-called comment triggered a storm of mixed reactions.

"How can he adequately meet the needs of non-white students as an open and proud racist," wrote a user quoted by the Dallas Morning News.

"He supports the law of the land," wrote another. "How is this reason for suspension?"

A spokeswoman for Lufkin's independent school district told The Daily News: "Yes, we have been informed of the publication. We do not support or endorse Dugat's actions or comments. He was put on administrative leave while waiting for an investigation into the incident. "

Lufkin is about 3 hours drive southeast of Dallas.
